Fish's Wishes

Splashing and frolicking in the ocean so deep, a lovely fish, with pink scales, began to silently weep.

Her heart is burdened, and heavy too; With things how they are, she doesn't know what to do.

She has a mate, whom she wants to keep; But a battle comes soon, and drains her courage like a seep.



Paralyzed with fear, she was filled with dread; Sometimes to cope, she wishes she were dead.





She cried for days, the tears melting into the sea; The impending event was as terrifying as can be.

Her mind fell to a dark, murky place; She put on a cheerful smile, and laughed just to save face.

The days counted down, the day coming fast; Never before had something meant so much in her past.

Her internal feelings ran a most rapid race; She went under the knife, her anxiety as vast as outer space.



Glistering stars shot across the night sky; It wasn't as bad as she'd thought... she didn't die!



Waves of relief, both real and internal, cleansed her heart; She'd always dreamed of this fresh start.

Swimming home, she indulged her hungry mate; Needless to say, he thought she was truly great.

This fish's wishes came true, a thing rivaling art; Now she has no worries, and much love to impart.
